Burwood Moon Festival

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I recently had the opportunity to attend the Burwood Moon Festival, held at Burwood Park. The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is an important celebration in the Chinese Calendar as it honours the full moon, a good harvest and emphasises family togetherness and appreciation for life. Burwood Moon Festival has been well known as one of the biggest annual events for the local community, and it is events like this that enhance the cultural diversity of our state and fosters community connections. On the day, we were delighted with joyful performances from various Asian community groups, all of which were outstanding. There were also different food and activity stalls commemorating the Moon Festival. It was a fantastic celebration indeed. I would like to thank Mr Ricky Hui and AC878 Chinese FM for their warm invitation to the event. I would also like to thank all event organisers, performers and stallholders who did a fantastic job organising the day. It was a great day of fun and festivities and I hope to celebrate this important celebration again in next year's event.
