Congratulating STEM Achievements

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise some recent outstanding achievements in STEM across the high schools in my community. The Orbispace Initiative recently hosted their annual competition titled, 'Pitch for the Plant'. The event consists of teams from schools across NSW who compete to impress real investors, successful startup Founders, and sustainability experts. This year, seven Year 8 students from St Ursula's College Kingsgrove worked together under the team's name of 'WattWay', to solve a real-world sustainability case and presented an eight-minute pitch to investors. WattWay won the competition against 28 other teams. What an amazing effort! At Shire Christian School, two Year 7 students won the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge 2024. Their game called 'Shooting Stars' will be presented on a panel at the biggest video game event in the southern hemisphere in Melbourne. As the Shadow Minister for Science and Technology, I am always inspired by the young minds in our community who continue to amaze us with their initiative and commitment to learning and innovation. I would like to congratulate all the students on their tremendous achievements and wish them the best of luck for the future.
