Riverwood Hornets Return from Normandy, France

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise the Riverwood Hornets of the Australian Cadet Corps, who recently returned from Normandy, France, after taking part in the official 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. Representing the 3,300 Australians who played a crucial role during D‑Day, the Riverwood Hornets had the opportunity to perform during a number of commemorative services throughout Normandy. The band undertook several visits to key historical sites, reflecting on the courage and resilience that Australian servicemen showed during the landings. The Riverwood Hornets have been an integral part of my community for some time now, participating in many local events and commemorative services. I am so glad that they were able to partake in this amazing experience. I would like to thank Chris Bailey, Captain of the Riverwood Hornets, who organised what looked to be a fantastic trip. I would also like to thank the chaperones who supervised the trip, as well as all members of the Riverwood Hornets Marching Band. I look forward to hearing all about their trip very soon. I trust that it was both enriching and educational.
