Sette Giugno Commemoration - Maltese Community Council of NSW

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to acknowledge the Maltese Community Council of NSW, who recently hosted their Sette Giugno Commemoration. This is an event I have had the privilege of attending for several years now. Sette Giugno is such an important part of Malta's history as a nation, where the Maltese revolted against the British on June 7, 1919. We commemorate the six brave Maltese heroes that lost their lives that day and Mata's strides towards independence and freedom. I believe that Multiculturalism is our strength here in New South Wales. We are simply better when we work together. As a patron member, I know that the Maltese Community Council of NSW are evidence of this, assisting Maltese Australians and affiliated organisations since 1967. I would like to thank President Miriam Friggieri, Secretary Annemarie Thind and Treasurer, Michael Zammit, for all their efforts with Maltese Community Council of NSW over the years. They consistently go above and beyond for the Maltese community right here in New South Wales. I look forward to continuing to support the Maltese Community Council of NSW for many years to come.
