Nadia and Alf Taylor

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I inform the House of two local heroes of the Oatley electorate, Mr Alf and Mrs Nadia Taylor. Thousands of disadvantaged children around the world have been able to achieve an education and better living conditions because of the generosity and hard work of these Lugarno grandparents. Both Nadia and Alf have spent millions of dollars of their own money in building schools and factories to help communities in Africa, India and Latin America. For their efforts, Mr and Mrs Taylor were previously appointed Members of the Order of Australia for significant service to the community through philanthropic initiatives. They have been trustees of the Nadia and Alf Taylor Foundation since 2002 and professionally, they are co-founders and managing directors of food packaging and processing company, TNA Packaging Solutions. While on a business trip to Johannesburg the couple saw children being taught in shipping containers. This just was not on. I congratulate them both on this well-deserved honour.
