Oatley Electorate Schools

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley) (16:03:48):

I acknowledge the outstanding schools in my electorate and throughout the St George region. I recently had the opportunity to visit Mortdale Public School with the Minister for Education. I recognise the school's principal, Olivera Mateski. Since taking on the position of principal about a year ago, Ms Mateski has done an outstanding job of taking the school to new heights. In the last school term, Mortdale Public School had an Anzac Day service, National Assessment Program—Literacy and Numeracy tests, school carnivals, University of New South Wales competitions, debating events, Tournament of the Minds, a Mother's Day stall, grade excursions, dance events, choir events, Primary Schools Sports Association events, Students' Representative Council fundraisers, Mortdale assemblies, spelling bee competitions and much more.

I thank the students and staff at Mortdale Public School for their continued efforts in producing quality work in the classrooms and supporting each other to achieve the best educational outcomes. With Education Week just past, it is appropriate to congratulate and recognise all staff in the teaching profession across New South Wales who have contributed so much to equipping our younger generations with knowledge and resources in the field of education.
