Alan Williams – Over 50 Years Service As A JP

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to acknowledge an incredibly hard-working member of my local community, Mr Alan Williams. Alan has been a Justice of the Peace in our community for 58 years – what an achievement! Justices of the Peace play such an important role within our community and communities throughout New South Wales. They must be honest and impartial individuals - qualities that Alan has exemplified throughout his long and dedicated service. Beyond his duties at a Justice of the Peace, Alan's broader willingness to serve in the community has left an incredibly positive impact. He has dedicated much of his life to helping others. He was elected to Kogarah Council in 1968 at the age of 23 – the youngest to ever be elected to a NSW Council at the time. He later went on to become the Deputy Mayor in 1974. Alan's 50 years of service as a Justice of the Peace is such an honourable milestone to reach, and I would like to thank him for his continued dedication to providing this trusted service in our community.
