Cobbers Group – 2nd Anniversary

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, there a range of community organisations in my Electorate that work incredibly hard for our community. I'd like to recognise one such group today – the Cobbers, who are celebrating their 2nd anniversary. Two years ago, a few local seniors got together to hold a men's BBQ at Peakhurst. Two years later, the group is celebrating their 2nd anniversary and have achieved some incredible things during that time. The group has grown to over 30 members and has proven quite popular. This is thanks in part to the work of Lyndon Mitchell, a wonderful volunteer and member of our community who has devoted himself to serving others. Seniors' groups such as the Cobbers play an important role in not only our community here in the St George, but communities across the State and country. They ensure that Seniors in our community are able to stay connected with each other. This is especially important in combatting social isolation and loneliness in our community. I'd like to once again congratulate the Cobbers group for reaching this incredible milestone. I look forward to continuing to work alongside them into the future.
