Poompavai Arasu

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I truly believe that volunteering is not just something you do, but instead, it is a way of life. Last year, I had the privilege of hosting the St George Community Awards which has been recognising the contributions of individuals, community groups and businesses within my local area for 13 years. I would like to put the spotlight on a wonderful member of my community, Poompavai Arasu, for her incredible efforts over the years by serving those who are most in need. As the Founding Director of the Singapengal Charity Group, Poompavai's efforts have made an enormous difference to the lives of many. Poompavai provided food and support to people during the COVID-19 pandemic and regularly helped those in the community who required assistance every single day. With so many families doing it tough at the moment, it is the work of community volunteers like Poompavai that keep us moving forward as a community. I wish Poompavai all the very best in her future endeavours and thank her for the wonderful contributions she has made within our community.
