Annie Martin

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to congratulate a local teacher and front runner for innovation within my community, Annie Martin from Oatley. I was delighted to hear that Annie had recently won the 2023 Premier's Prize for innovation in STEM teaching, which I believe is an absolutely fantastic achievement. As a teacher of 30 years, Annie works incredibly hard to inspire schoolkids through student-led initiatives. She currently works as a Junior School Science Coordinator at Presbyterian Ladies' College in Croydon, and has directed her focus towards implementing hands-on STEM programs. By conducting independent research and collaborating with others, students can solve problems and take ownership over their own learning. I believe that Annie has truly gone above and beyond in implementing these classroom strategies. STEM provides such important skills that are becoming more and more important in our rapidly changing society. It is thanks to the work of teachers like Annie, that STEM has become so accessible to students throughout the State. I would like to congratulate Annie once again for receiving this prestigious award. I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
