Westfield Local Heroes - Lala Noronha

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise to congratulate my constituent, Lala Noronha, who recently was awarded funding under the 2023 Westfield Local Heroes program. The Westfield Local Heroes programs seeks to acknowledge those who often receive little to no recognition. These are the people in our communities who work day in, day out, to support those in need. As the General Manager at the Kogarah Storehouse, Lala works exceptionally hard alongside her team to deliver emergency food parcels, financial aid and life-enhancing programs to hundreds of people each month. Since starting her role with the Kogarah Storehouse in 2015, Lala has witnessed unprecedented growth, with three times the amount of people seeking emergency support in recent times. Clearly, with the rising cost of living, there are now more people requiring emergency relief and assistance in New South Wales. As a recipient of the $5000 finalist grant, this money can help Lala and her team continue to support those who are most in need in our community. I would like to once again congratulate Lala, and I wish her and the Kogarah Storehouse all the best.
