Andy Paschalidis – Westfield Local Hero

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise to congratulate a community hero within my Electorate, Mr Andrew Paschalidis, who was recently nominated as a finalist for the Hurstville Westfield Local Heroes program. The Westfield Local Heroes program aims to shine the spotlight on individuals throughout Australia and New Zealand who have made a significant contribution to their community or the environment. Each finalist receives a $5000 grant for the organisation that they represent, with the winner receiving a $20,000 grant. Andy is among three finalists, meaning he has already secured an additional $5000 in funding for the 'Heartbeat of Football' association. As the founder and CEO of the organisation, Andy understands the power of working alongside the community to deliver positive outcomes for locals. The Heartbeat of Football has done significant good for our Electorate and works to raise awareness surrounding heart-related deaths and issues both on and off the sporting field. They have achieved this through a set of ongoing campaigns, including heart-testing and education days at local football clubs. I am so proud of the work Andy does, and I wish him all the best as a finalist.
