St George Antiochian Orthodox Church Thanksgiving Service

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I rise to thank the St George Antiochian Orthodox Church for hosting me at their recent Thanksgiving Service. I was joined by my Parliamentary colleagues at this service, representing the New South Wales Liberals and Opposition Leader, Mark Speakman. The Thanksgiving Service commemorates the centenary of the laying of foundations for the first Antiochian Orthodox Church in Australia. Built in 1953, the St George Antiochian Cathedral has stood as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Antiochian Community in New South Wales for 100 years. The Antiochian community has made remarkable contributions to our State, promoting the principles of inclusivity and respect for people from all walks of life. As Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, it is a great privilege to work alongside the St George Antiochian Orthodox Church, bearing witness to the fantastic work they do in our community. I would like to acknowledge and thank The Archbishop, His Eminence Basilios Kodseie, as well as Reverend Father Nabil Kachab for hosting such a fantastic service and wish the St George Antiochian Orthodox Church all the best within the coming years.
