Maltese Community Council Sette Giugno

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I would like to thank the Maltese Community Council of NSW for hosting me at the 2023 Sette Giugno Commemoration Service. Sette Giugno commemorates the Maltese victims of the uprising against the British on the 7th of June, 1919. It is a time to slow down and reflect, to remember the importance of justice and to celebrate both Malta and Australia as free and democratic nations. Our Maltese Community have a strong presence in New South Wales. I am so proud that the Maltese Community Council continues to represent this the aspirations of the Maltese community, as they have done so with due diligence since 1967. The Maltese Community Council also represents several other affiliated Maltese organisations, all of which have continued to promote and lobby for the interests of Maltese people throughout New South Wales. I'd like to thank Ms Miriam Friggieri, President of the Maltese Community Council of New South Wales, as well as the rest of the team for putting together a memorable service. As the Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, I look forward to working closely alongside the Maltese Community Council of NSW into the future.
