Foodbank Visit 2023

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I recently had the opportunity to visit the Foodbank Facility at Glendenning, where my team and I volunteered for the day to support them in their fight against hunger. This is something my staff and I do every six months, and I always enjoy seeing what it takes to run such a large-scale operation. Established in 1992, Foodbank work hard to combat food inequality throughout Australia. They provide over 86.7 million meals to those who need it each year. We were fortunate enough to be able to visit during Reconciliation Week, where we got to take part in a traditional smoking ceremony. With 30 percent of Indigenous households facing income poverty, organisations like Foodbank are so integral in supporting our First Nations People. I'd like to thank John Robertson, the CEO of Foodbank New South Wales and ACT, for all the hard work he does by providing support to those who need it most. I would also like to thank the fantastic team of volunteers for all the phenomenal work they do at Foodbank. I am very much looking forward to visiting again in six months' time to volunteer again.
