40 Years of Broadcasting at 90.1ncb Fm

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I rise to recognise and congratulate 90.1NCB FM for reaching 40 years of broadcasting earlier this month. What a fantastic achievement that I'm sure they are incredibly proud of. Now operating with over 100 volunteers, the station came from humble beginnings, when members of the Narwee Baptist Church noticed a gap in the community radio market in the St George. The station is now headed by announcer and chief executive, Paul McGrath, who has had a myriad of experience working in commercial radio. He now utilises these skills to give back to his local community, talking to local organisations like the Lions Club and Rotary, all the while playing the best hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I've had the pleasure of being a guest on the show numerous times and have always felt welcomed by the entire team. They have recently undertaken a gender diversity initiative, with several female presenters taking turns hosting the broadcast. I'd like to thank Paul McGrath and 90.1NCB volunteers for the fantastic work they do, day in and day out. I wish them all the best in the next 40 years of broadcasting.
