Rafael 'rafe' Kowron

Mr MARK COURE (OatleyMinister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Seniors)

——Speaker, I rise to honour and commemorate the life of long-time Oatley Resident, Rafael or 'Rafe' Kowron, who passed away on the 11th April at age 92. Rafe was perhaps best known as one of the original founding members of the Oatley Flora and Fauna society. Thanks to Rafe's astonishing efforts to look after our local environment, the Oatley Flora and Fauna society continues to flourish to this day, and does fantastic conservation work. Rafe started his own repair and service business at Penshurst. I have fond memories growing up locally as a kid, where Rafe came to our place to fix the TV a few times. Rafe and I also served together on the board of the Oatley RSL and his dedication to the local community was evident in this role. I would like to send my sincerest condolences to Rafe's family. He was truly a community hero and will be remembered fondly by many.
