Mr MARK COURE (OatleyMinister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Seniors)

——Speaker, I rise before this House in support of the tens of thousands of women and girls in NSW who are affected by period poverty every year. Every female deserves access to essential sanitary products because they are a necessity and not a privilege. I stand before the House to extend my support for the #PadUpPublicHealth campaign which has been started by Share the Dignity. I have been an active supporter of Share the Dignity for more than five years now. In this time, my office has collected thousands of sanitary items that have been distributed to women in need throughout Australia. The #PadUpPublicHealth campaign aims to ensure that every public hospital in Australia is able to provide sanitary items to women in care. I strongly support this initiative because access to these products are a fundamental right and women deserve equity within our public health system. I will continue to advocate for this important cause because I firmly believe that our Government should lead the nation on this crucial reform. These reforms are for our daughters, wives, sisters, mothers and friends and we must take action.
