Kogarah Historical Society

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I acknowledge the Kogarah Historical Society who in 2020, celebrated their 50th Anniversary. This is an outstanding achievement and a very impressive milestone. The society was formed following the Bicentennial of Captain Cook's arrival at Botany Bay and it was created by Former Kogarah Mayor, Fred Kavanagh, and the Kogarah Bay Progress Association. For their 50th Anniversary, former President, Beverley Earnshaw OAM, prepared a book titled "The History of Kogarah Historical Society 50th Anniversary" designed to share the rich cultural history of the region. The organisation is made up of so many wonderful individuals who all have a rich passion for the area. I would like to make a special mention of Gill Whan and Cath Sullivan who have given so much to the Society and our community over a number of years. The team has also opened an exhibition at the Carss Cottage Museum called "Kogarah's Amazing Achievers" which features iconic pieces including the fully restored 1880's railway clock from Kogarah Railway Station. I wish everyone from the Kogarah Historical Society all the best for the year ahead.
