NSW Labor axes Back to School Vouchers amidst Cost-Of-Living Crisis

The Minns Labor Government has made a $193 Million cut to Back to School vouchers ahead of the upcoming school term, despite the record costs of school supplies, uniforms and technology.

In response to this, Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, has started a petition to call on the Labor Government to restore this vital initiative, slamming the Government’s move as an outright betrayal of those desperately needing assistance.

“Labor’s reckless decision is going to hit families particularly hard. My wife and I are finding it increasingly challenging to manage the soaring costs associated with my son’s schooling fees.” Mr Coure said.

“The former Coalition Government brought in this initiative in 2022 to ensure that every school-aged child had access to the essentials. By axing this program, Labor has demonstrated that they are out of touch with the people of New South Wales.”

This decision comes after other cuts to vital cost-of-living supports, such as Active Kids, Creative Kids and First Lap vouchers, meaning hundreds of thousands of families are already missing out.

“My community and I want to send a message to the Minns Labor Government and that is to reinstate the Back-to-School vouchers.” Mr Coure said.

“I ask that all concerned parents and locals sign my petition, to drive home to the Labor Government that our children’s education and future is non-negotiable. This is about standing up for every struggling family in New South Wales.”
