New Covered Outdoor Learning Area for Georges River College Penshurst Girls Campus

Students and teachers at Georges River College, Penshurst Girls Campus will soon benefit from a brand new covered outdoor learning area (COLA).

Member for Oatley Mark Coure welcomed the commitment by the NSW Government to fund this important project.

The project will also include new line markings on the surface of the basketball court. The project is currently out to tender and it is envisaged that the work will be completed by June 2019.

“I’m proud to be part of a Government that is working hard to deliver these top quality facilities for our local students,” Mr Coure said.

“After two years of lobbying the Minister to deliver a COLA for Penshurst Girls, I am thrilled that funding has been allocated to see this infrastructure become a reality. I would also like to thank the School Principal, Noeline Ross, and the P&C President, Lyndal Smith, for their advocacy on this project for a number of years.”

Ms Lyndal Smith is thrilled that Penshurst Girls Campus is receiving the outdoor infrastructure the P&C have been lobbying for.

“The P&C are thrilled that our daughters will finally be able to fully utilise this space in all weathers,” Ms Smith said.

Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project was another example of the NSW Government delivering the school resources that students and local communities deserve.

“We want our children to have the best education possible and providing high-quality school facilities is a key part of that,” Mr Stokes said.

The NSW Government is investing $6 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, the Liberals & Nationals Government have committed to wipe the school maintenance backlog to zero. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
