Mark Coure launches campaign to upgrade and restore our local libraries

Libraries play an essential role in the upbringing and education of our youngest and it is crucial that we provide local families with the libraries they deserve.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure has launched a petition to upgrade the South Hurstville and Oatley libraries, restoring them to their former glory.

“Being married to a high school teacher and raising two young boys with a thirst for learning, I know how important local libraries are in the development of young children.” Mr Coure said.

“Libraries provide an invaluable service and space for families, young and old people alike to work, study and socialise.”

“I want Georges River Council to upgrade South Hurstville and Oatley libraries for the whole community to enjoy and to ensure that there are no further cuts to services following the cuts made by Council during COVID.”

Mr Coure has written to Georges River Council, Mayor Nick Katris as well as all George River Councillors to raise this issue and request that Council consider upgrades to South Hurstville and Oatley libraries.

“I want to encourage our community to sign my petition to highlight to Council the strong community support behind upgrading these libraries.”
