Funding for Narwee Public School

Thanks to the latest round of the NSW Government’s $120 million Metro Renewal Program, Narwee Public School has received funding for a new communal building.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, said it is great to see our local schools benefiting from the NSW Government’s commitment to creating modern revitalised school facilities.

“It is fantastic to see that Narwee Public School has received further funding through this program after already receiving funding for playground and outdoor spaces upgrades,” Mr Coure said.

“This new communal building will allow students to come together as one for collaboration and creativity and this is particularly important after the difficult past 18 months that we have endured.”

“This program has now funded seven projects within the local area and it has played a crucial role in supporting local jobs and students.

Minister for Education, Sarah Mitchell, said the Metro Renewal Program is driven by what schools communities want and includes work such as upgrades to school playgrounds, sport courts and libraries.

“I am delighted that more projects will be delivered in this next tranche of the program. All of the projects were put forward by schools, so they are investments that we know the school community wants,” Minister Mitchell said.

“Overall, we will see more than $5 million invested in metro school infrastructure in this third tranche of the program.”

In November 2020, the NSW Government announced the Metro and Regional Renewal Program and to date, over 1,440 projects have been approved at more than 1,200 schools.

The program is supporting more than 2,600 jobs across regional and metro NSW and wherever possible, schools will use local contractors and suppliers ensuring the positive impacts of this stimulus are felt as far and wide as possible.

The NSW Government is investing $7.9 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 215 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
