Community feedback to improve King Georges Road upgrade

Transport for NSW has listened to the concerns of local residents and will be enacting a suite of changes to improve traffic flow and road safety along King Georges Road.

Member for Oatley, Mark Coure, notes the success of community consultation in delivering a positive outcome for the community in a number of areas across the project.

“The community has spoken and our Government has listened with eight amendments taking place to ensure the best possible solution for both commuters and local residents,”

Mr Coure said.

Transport for NSW has decided to disregard the proposed roundabout at Connells Point Road / The Mall and have now included a pedestrian refuge while extending the right turn bay by approximately 40 metres.

“These achievements showcase the importance of community consultation because it is the daily users of the road who know it best.”

The Community Consultation Report is now available online and the updated design will also include the widening of King Georges Road between Connells Point Road and Culwulla Street / William Street.

Additional investigation work and consultation with local representatives will now take place and the community will be updated on any further changes that occur.

“The widening of King Georges Road is running smoothly. This is thanks to the commitment of Transport for NSW staff who are working tirelessly to ensure that this project can progress with minimal disruption to local residents.”

The community will be kept up to date as the project progresses. For more information about the project, please visit: https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/projects/kgr-bev-hills-to-south-hurstville/in...
