Commencement of Emergency Department at St George Hospital

Oatley MP Mark Coure welcomes the approval of the DA for the construction of the emergency department at St George Hospital.

“With the Minister for Planning having approved the DA for the new Emergency Department at St George Hospital, Health Infrastructure expect to issue a letter of award to the nominated contractor by mid-February 2013 with physical work on site to commence in March or April 2013.

“The project is anticipated for completion in late 2014.”

"The new emergency department is located on the Western edge of the existing hospital campus on Gray Street" said Mr Coure.

"The new emergency department building will contain approximately 4,900 sqm of gross floor area. This will provide 76 treatment spaces and 15 support spaces."

"The project has a capital investment value of $34.747 million and will result in the creation of 73 new operational jobs and 129 construction jobs".

"I look forward to seeing this project being completed. The construction of a new emergency department will allow St George Hospital to best cater for the needs of residents in the St George Area" concluded Mr Coure.
