Motorists on King Georges Road are closer to faster and more reliable journeys with concept design plans taking shape to widen the road between Beverly Hills and Hurstville.
Member for Oatley Mark Coure MP said Roads and Maritime Services is developing a proposal to ease congestion, save travel time and improve journey reliability on King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road at Beverly Hills and Forest Road at Hurstville.
“Motorists are experiencing significant congestion on King Georges Road, particularly during peak periods, with more than 43,000 vehicles travelling in both directions on weekdays,” Mr Coure said.
“The improvements include widening King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road at Beverly Hills and Forest Road at Hurstville to three lanes in each direction, separated by a concrete median, to improve traffic flow and efficiency.
“The plan will prevent right turn movements in and out of Warwick, George, Clarence and Percival Streets to increase safety and improve travel time for motorists traveling on King Georges Road.
“Work would also include relocating street lighting, kerbs and drainage, road resurfacing, line marking, some tree removal, trimming and landscaping.”
The community is invited to review the concept designs on the project website, and contact Roads and Maritime to give any feedback on the proposed improvements by Sunday, 21 October at 5pm.
Community feedback will be considered and responded to in a consultation report that will be made available online. During this stage, Roads and Maritime will continue investigation work on the project.
