Sophie Ward

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise today to recognise Sophie Ward for her outstanding contribution to Shopfront Arts Co-op and the young people it supports. Sophie first found confidence, creativity and lifelong friendships through Shopfront Arts Co-op. After 15 years with the organisation, she now serves as its Young Leader, helping other young people experience that same sense of connection and belonging. In this role, Sophie champions youth voices and delivers programs for young people living with disability or experiencing mental health challenges. Through the creative arts, she provides opportunities for participants to express themselves, build confidence and feel seen, heard and valued. Sophie's journey from participant to leader demonstrates the lasting impact that inclusive community arts programs can have. I commend Sophie for her genuine, creative and courageous leadership and thank her for empowering the next generation of young artists.
