Tony Kalidis
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise today to recognise Tony Kalidis, founder of Global Quality Snacks, following his retirement after more than 30 years of service to the education sector. Tony began his business in 1995 from his garage in Beverly Hills, initially supplying health snacks and treats under the Sunibrite brand. As a quintessential sole trader, Tony worked tirelessly to build a successful local business. He later focused on supplying school canteens, establishing Global Quality Snacks and expanding from Sydney public schools to religious and independent schools across New South Wales. Tony generously shared his experience to help improve school canteen policy and promote good practice throughout the sector. He was always willing to offer practical guidance and support to canteen operators. At its height, the business employed 15 local staff. Tony also supported charitable organisations, including Loaves and Fishes, Meals on Wheels Peakhurst, SecondBite and Foodbank. Although Tony has now retired, Global Quality Snacks continues to prosper which is a testament to the strong foundation he established. I congratulate Tony on his remarkable career and thank him for his outstanding contribution to local employment, education and the wider community.
