Shirley Zhuang
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise today to recognise Shirley Zhuang for her compassionate advocacy and service as a Lived Experience Board Director with Project Youth. Project Youth supports young people facing housing insecurity and homelessness across the Georges River, Sutherland Shire and Bayside communities. Having experienced homelessness as a young person, Shirley has chosen to use that experience to improve the systems that once provided her with support. Shirley helps shape important decisions and advocates for services that are trauma-informed, focused on prevention and centred on the individual needs of young people. This work ensures the voices of those with lived experience are heard and respected when services and support programs are developed. Shirley's fierce, supportive and compassionate leadership is making a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. I commend Shirley for this important advocacy and thank Shirley for helping build a more understanding and supportive community.
