St George Basketball Success
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise today to recognise the outstanding achievements of St George Basketball following one of the most successful representative weekends in the Association's history. Three junior representative teams competed in Basketball NSW Grand Finals, with the Under 14 Boys and Under 18 Boys White crowned champions. The Under 12 Boys also delivered a tremendous performance, finishing as runners-up after an outstanding season. The success continued with the Youth League Men Red securing first place in their conference following an emphatic 84–44 victory over the previously undefeated Camden Valley Wildfire. The team finished the regular season with an exceptional record of 15 wins and just one loss. These achievements reflect the talent, determination and teamwork of the players, as well as the dedication of the coaches, team managers, volunteers and families who support them. Under the leadership of Association President Ray Barbi, St George Basketball continues to provide valuable opportunities for local young people to develop their skills, confidence and love of the game. I congratulate Ray and everyone involved in this historic achievement and wish all the Saints teams every success for the future.
