Helen Dwyer
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise today to recognise Helen Dwyer for more than 40 years of dedicated service to the Scout Association of NSW. Now in her seventies, Helen continues to give her time week in, week out, supporting a large community of young people and mentoring fellow Scout leaders. Described as a "multi-tasker extraordinaire", Helen organises camps, outings and participation in community events, helping young people develop confidence, independence and valuable life skills. Throughout her remarkable years of service, Helen has helped thousands of young people grow and learn through Scouting. Her selfless, caring and tireless contribution has also supported generations of volunteers and strengthened the wider Scouting community. Helen is now seeking funding to train two Mental Health First Aid instructors, who would then deliver courses to other Scouting volunteers. This important initiative would equip leaders with the knowledge and skills to better support the mental wellbeing of young people and their fellow volunteers. I commend Helen for her extraordinary service and thank her for the lasting difference she continues to make in the lives of so many.
