Lions Club of Lugarno

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise the outstanding work of the Lions Club of Lugarno, who are making a meaningful contribution to our local community day after day. Recently, Lions volunteers supported Sailability, a non-profit organisation dedicated to making sailing accessible for people with disabilities. The Lions provided one of their famous Lions barbecues, supporting a wonderful day of sailing on the river for children with disabilities. They also assisted with the opening celebrations of the new Georges River Council Community Centre, helping make the occasion even more special through another great community barbecue. The club will soon lend its support to the Sleeping Rough Fundraiser in Riverwood, in support of Georges River Life Care and local people facing significant hardship and homelessness. While the Lions Club is well known for its community barbecues, every sausage served helps raise funds that are returned directly to the community through local projects, youth initiatives, support for people with disabilities, disaster relief and many other charitable activities. I thank all of the fantastic Lions Club of Lugarno volunteers for their commitment to serving others.
