Mark Connell, OAM

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to congratulate Mark Connell OAM, who was recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours for service to youth through scouting. The Medal of the Order of Australia is one of our nation's highest honours, recognising Australians who have made an outstanding contribution to their community. Mark, or Skip as many like to call him, has dedicated much of his life to the scouting movement. Joining the Oatley Bay Sea Scouts at just eight years old, he took on a number of different roles before going on to become scout leader and leader in charge. Beyond his local involvement, Mark has made significant contributions to scouting across New South Wales, serving as a delegate to the Scouts NSW Rover Section, a committee member of the South Metropolitan Region Cub Palaver and a member of the Scouting Wood Badge Advanced Leadership training course. Once again, I would like to congratulate Mark on this incredibly well-deserved honour. Our local scouting community is far better off because of his efforts.
