Liam Jordan

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise and congratulate Penshurst local, Liam Jordan for the positive difference he is making in our local community. It was a privilege to hear about his story in our local newspaper, the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader. Jordan competes in Sydney and Wollongong in a high-energy professional wrestling circuit and is currently known as the reigning 'Rock and Roll Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.' Introduced to wrestling by his father at a young age, Liam turned a childhood passion into a successful sporting career, even becoming the first Australian to be trained by international wrestling superstar Cody Rhodes. Whilst his achievements in the ring are impressive, it is his work outside of wrestling that truly stands out. Having experienced the loss of his father to cancer at just 13 years old, Liam now uses his platform to support young people through presentations with the Black Dog Institute, speaking to students about mental fitness and overcoming adversity. I congratulate Liam on his achievements and thank him for being such a positive role model for young people across our community.
