Nellie Doueihi

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley) (20:55:35):

I recognise Nellie Doueihi, who is a very important individual in our community. She was recently announced as our 2025 Local Woman of the Year. As a member of St Declan's Catholic Church in Penshurst, Nellie has supported our community in her role as the coordinator of ministry to the sick and elderly. She currently provides support to just over 300 elderly people with the help of over 130 volunteers. Through Nellie's leadership, she has strived to develop new programs to help our ageing population. That includes the Tech Savvy Seniors program, where students from my old school, Marist Catholic College Penshurst, assist elderly residents with technology-related questions. In addition to being named the 2025 Local Woman of the Year, Nellie was also recognised as the 2023 Westfield Local Hero for Hurstville. As a part of that recognition, St Declan's Catholic Church was awarded $20,000 in funding to help it continue its vital ministry. I am so proud to offer my sincere congratulations to Nellie on her unwavering and exceptional dedication to our community. She is an unsung hero, and I wish her all the very best for the future.
