Holi Mela

—Speaker, I rise to recognise the recent Holi Mela event, held at Prince Alfred Square in Parramatta. Hosted by Indian Australian Voice Inc, it was fantastic to see so many participate in one of the largest Holi celebrations in New South Wales. Holi is one of the largest Hindu festivals in our state's calendar, representing the spirit of unity and the triumph of good over evil. It also welcomes springtime in India, which is a time of joy, celebration and of course, colour! The colour-throwing tradition at Holi is always such a blast and for the last few years, my son James and I have always looked forward to this event the most. It was heartening to see people of all ages and all backgrounds getting involved. Multiculturalism is one of our pillars of success here in New South Wales. As the Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, events like this make me extremely proud of our commitment to diversity. I would like to thank the Indian Australian Voice once again for hosting me. I look forward to attending next year.
