St George First Responders

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise today to recognise the extraordinary efforts of our first responders in my local community. Day after day, they protect and serve our area, often receiving little recognition for their efforts. Today, I would like to recognise the heroic efforts of Senior Constable Melissa Poulton and Constables Owen Lartey and Jessica Lindsay, Police officers in our local area whose quick thinking recently saved the life of a child. When an 18-month-old toddler began choking on a piece of apple, the three officers did not hesitate to jump in. Within minutes of the call, they performed life-saving measures to dislodge the obstruction. Paramedics arrived shortly after, providing further care and ensuring the young boy was safe. His parents certainly were relieved. This story is a testament to the courage, skill, and professionalism of our first responders. Their ability to act quickly and calmly in high-pressure situations brings comfort and security to all of us. We owe our deepest gratitude to these heroes and all first responders who serve St George. Their sacrifices often go unnoticed, but their impact on our lives is immeasurable.
