Knit2gether – 2024 Achievements
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise to recognise Knit2gether, a group of locals who meet together to make beanies, scarves and more, all of which go to directly supporting local schools, nursing homes and those in need. Knit2gether had a very busy year in 2024, and I would like to recognise them for some of their many achievements. They are now a group of over 70 individuals, meeting consistently each month at Oatley Uniting Church. In 2024, they distributed just over 2600 knitted and crocheted items to the Kogarah Storehouse, the Hurstville Salvation Army, the Hands & Feet Organisation, the Homeless Refuge for Youths at Penshurst, as well as many nursing homes and hospitals throughout New South Wales. Additionally, they have donated $1600 to local schools, provided 90 handbags and tote bags to my Share the Dignity "it's in the bag" charity drive, donated raffle prizes for many local fundraisers and overall, helped countless individuals who are in difficult living situations. I would like to thank Linda Pritchard, director of Knit2gether, for her efforts in our community this year. It is certainly impressive to have an organisation of such calibre operating in our local area.
