Nicholas Remy

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I would like to recognise a local talent from my community, Nicholas Remy, who has received a highly commended award in the International Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards in London. Nicholas is a Mortdale resident whose talent was recognised for his photo of a crested horn-shark eating a Port Jackson shark egg. This prestigious award is often likened to the Oscars of wildlife photography. He has been entering the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards since 2016, and previously won the Ocean Photographer of the Year for his photo of a grey nurse shark in 2022. Nicholas and his wife have since started an online underwater photography school called the Underwater Club, with members from 18 countries. It is always a privilege to share the amazing achievements that arise from our local community and witness the nurturing of local talent that is essential for a thriving, interconnected community. I would like to congratulate Nicholas on achieving this prestigious award and commend his efforts in showcasing the beauty of nature to the world-stage. I wish him all the best for his next big adventure.
