Rotary Club of Hurstville – 85th Anniversary Dinner
Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)
—Speaker, I rise to recognise the Rotary Club of Hurstville, a fantastic community group within my local area. They recently hosted their 85th anniversary dinner, which I was privileged to attend. Rotary Clubs are an integral part of any local community, however I truly believe that we are so fortunate to have one of the best operating in my local community. Hurstville Rotary was first chartered all the way back in 1939 and the organisation has continued to grow since then. The dinner was a fantastic opportunity to look back on the past, including all the wonderful things that Hurstville Rotary has done over the years. Last financial year, they donated just over $17,000 to a number of local groups and charitable organisations, continuing their trend of donating hundreds of thousands of dollars since their inception. I would like to thank the hosts for the evening, including President Russell Lee, Vice President David Fan, Jan Gartrell, Jan Hall, Ivis Young, Susan Leahy and finally, Marian and Kevin Smith. I look forward to working with the Rotary Club of Hurstville well into the future.
