Oatley RSL Sub-Branch

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley) (14:49:31):

I congratulate the Oatley RSL sub-branch for reaching an impressive milestone recently, with this month marking the eightieth anniversary of its formation. The Oatley RSL sub-branch was established on 23 August 1944. However, its origins go all the way back to 1915, when a local branch was formed by a group of World War I diggers. Over the past 80 years, the Oatley RSL Sub-Branch has done some incredible things in our community. It runs an Anzac Day memorial service each year and supports many local organisations. This year, there was a guest speaker, Sarah Watson, whom I thank for her service to the community. As a former member of the Australian Defence Force, Sarah now supports the Soldier On organisation, offering mental health support to former service men and women. To conclude, I thank Clay Marks, Kevin Grimes, Doug Torode, Mal Vincent and Bill Wright for their continued dedication to the sub-branch. I look forward to continuing to work with the Oatley RSL Sub-Branch well into the future, supporting veterans in our local community.
