Michaela Loukas

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley) (18:18:23):

Today I recognise an incredibly talented young person in my community, Michaela Loukas. Currently a year 11 student, Michaela was recently awarded the distinguished Victor Chang award at her school, Marist Catholic College Penshurst. The award recognises her fantastic achievements and service to her fellow Australians. Most notably, at only 15 years old, Michaela worked on a robotic prototype that helps detect melanoma in Australia. Michaela was also selected to attend the National Computer Science School, where she participated in a research program at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, and was a top finalist in the SBS National Languages Competition. She has also won countless awards over many years. I must say, Michaela's efforts are truly commendable. It is fantastic to see young women in our community not only getting involved in STEM but making a real and tangible difference. I cannot wait to see what Michaela achieves into the future. Judging by her fantastic achievements thus far, I am sure it will be equally, if not more, impressive.
