St George Brass Band - 2023 Australian National Band Championships

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I acknowledge and congratulate the St George Brass Band for their fantastic achievements at the 2023 Australian National Band Championships, held in Newcastle across the Easter Weekend. Competing against 68 community bands from across Australia, the stakes were certainly high. However, the St George Brass Band rose to the challenge, winning three competitions over the entire weekend. This is a fabulous achievement by any means. Their Junior Band played incredibly well from all accounts and left with a second-place trophy, only just being beaten by the Hyde Street Youth Band from Melbourne. I would like to personally congratulate Harry Kane, Leo Huang, and Stella Shin, who all won awards in their respective solo events. The talent on offer in the St George Brass Band is second to none, and they should be immensely proud of their efforts. I would also like to congratulate the President of the St George Brass Band, Mark Croucher on this fantastic achievement, as well as all band members. I wish the St George Brass Band all the best in their upcoming performances and look forward to watching them thrive over the next few years.
