NSW Federation of Community Language Schools
Mr MARK COURE (OatleyMinister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Seniors)
——Speaker, I rise to recognise the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools after they hosted their fantastic Annual Gala Dinner last year in 2021. There are more than 230 community language schools in NSW across more than 435 different locations. These schools provide linguistic education to more than 28,000 students across 87 different languages and this requires the expertise of more than 2500 teachers. Here in the St George region, extra‑curricular linguistic education is provided at local schools including Lugarno Public School, Peakhurst Public School and Connells Point Public School. The Annual Gala Dinner was an incredible event and it was fantastic to see the community coming together to recognise the importance of our community language schools across the State. I wish to thank the President of the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools, Lucia Johns, as well as their Chief Executive Officer, Michael Christodoulou, for organising this fantastic event. Multiculturalism is the heart and soul of the St George region and I look forward to working alongside our local community language schools into the future.
