Mr MARK COURE (OatleyMinister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Seniors)
——Community sport is the lifeblood of the St George region and nothing brings our community together quite like the annual Richo Cup. When local St George footballer Matthew Richardson passed away suddenly on the field in 2014, our local football community responded. The Richo Cup was founded the following year to raise money to purchase defibrillators for every Club in the St George Football Association. With the help of the St George Football Association, the defibrillators were provided to each Club to help prevent future cases like this from occurring. In 2021, the Richo Cup raised $21,000 for the Cardiology and Coronary Care Unit at St George Hospital. This funding will be used to provide life changing care for patients throughout the St George region and that is something that our football community can take great pride in. I want to thank the St George Football Association and our local football clubs for continuing to organise this annual event to pay tribute to Matthew and his family while also supporting those in need.
