St George Basketball

Mr MARK COURE (OatleyMinister for Multiculturalism, and Minister for Seniors)

——Speaker, I rise to congratulate one of my favourite local sporting organisations, the St George Basketball Association, for receiving much needed grant funding thanks to the NSW Government. As part of the Local Sports Grant program, the St George Basketball Association has received $7000 to increase female participation and provide additional coaching services. This funding program is achieving incredible results throughout the State, including right here in the St George area, where almost $40,000 is being injected directly into our local sporting community. It was an honour to drop in to a training session with President Ray Barbi, Administrator Anna Pazanin and Board Member Kate Joveski, to announce this important funding boost for their organisation. Prior to the COVID‑19 pandemic, the organisation had over 1000 registered players and I have no doubt that their numbers will grow even higher in the future. The strong community support for the organisation is thanks to the ongoing commitment of Ray Barbi and the team who are continuing to provide an inclusive and enjoyable environment for players of all ages and abilities. Well done to the St George Basketball Association.
