Anzac Day Service (Penshurst)

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise to congratulate the Penshurst RSL Sub-Branch for hosting a fantastic ANZAC Day service in 2021. The Penshurst RSL Sub-Branch has been a chartered organisation since 1927 and they have already achieved so much in almost 95 years of service to the Penshurst community.

Unfortunately, due to social distancing guidelines there was no march this year, but it was fantastic to see so many people joining together at the Penshurst War Memorial to pay their respects. As I stood there alongside families, community representatives and friends, I was pleased by the display of solemnity and pride, on what is one of the most important occasions across our nation. I want to thank the Penshurst RSL Sub-Branch for their ongoing commitment to preserving and furthering the ANZAC spirit for future generations. In particular, I wish to thank President John Hoban, Secretary Graham Grant and the entire committee for not only enshrining the ANZAC legacy, but for continuing to inspire our community about the humility and sacrifices shown by Australian men and women at war. Lest we forget.
