Lugarno Lions Club

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise to acknowledge the incredible work of the Lugarno Lions Club for their outstanding year in 2020. The organisation is in their 47th year and they have reached an impressive milestone in having donated $3 million since they were established in 1974. The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough on all community groups across the region, including the Lugarno Lions Club. In 2020, they were unable to host their annual spring fair and instead took to smaller COVID safe actions to help out those in need including landscaping and furniture moving. It is for these reasons that the organisation received a Community Group Achievement Award as part of the 10th Anniversary of the St George Community Awards. This is to congratulate their commitment to our community during this difficult time. This award rounded out their fantastic year in 2020 and I look forward to seeing what they achieve in 2022. Well done to everyone at the Lugarno Lions Club for these fantastic achievements.
