St George Hospital Visit

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—I thank Adam Hall from the Health Services Union and Tom Karagiannis from NSW Health Pathology who toured me around the pathology space at St George Hospital in 2020. Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the topical nature of an appropriate vaccine, it was both interesting and insightful to tour the premises. The tour allowed me to see the facilities first-hand and see how COVID-19 is tested, studied and analysed. I was also taught how the rapid test kits work and their role in containing the virus. This tour also took place shortly after International Pathology Day so I also had the opportunity to talk to staff at the hospital about their needs and concerns. It was great to discuss what Stage 3 of the St George Hospital upgrade will mean for them and what it will mean for our hospital and our community more broadly. This was a fantastic experience and I thank Adam and Tom for their time and for sharing their knowledge with me.
