South Sydney Indian Association

Mr MARK COURE (Oatley)

—Speaker, I rise to acknowledge the incredible and tireless work of a local cultural community group in my electorate of Oatley. The South Sydney Indian Association works to support the local Indian community of the greater St George area. Community groups such as this one are vital in providing a sense of belonging and community, which is especially crucial during these isolating times. Under the leadership of their current President, Ms Jagrati Lalchandani, Vice President Ms Ramya Badrinath, Secretary, Ms Swati Tanna and the Treasurer, Ms Shweta Doke, the South Sydney Indian Association have continued to assist per the groups four core values; To care, celebrate, connect and collaborate. In accordance with these values in the past year, the South Sydney Indian Association have actively fundraised for victims of the West Bengal cyclone, provided essential assistance to Sydney's homeless and donated to the Australian Bush Fire relief as well as additionally organising regular community events.
